HISTORY

Christ Episcopal Church Day School (CECDS) began in January 1971 as an outreach program to the community and was originally known as Christ Church Playschool. The school received its certificate of approval from the Maryland State Board of Education, Non-Public School Division in 1988.

In January 1996, the Playschool moved from its old location in Stevensville to our present location at 830 Romancoke Road, Route 8 South. At that time, our name was changed to Christ Church Episcopal School. In the spring of 2000, our name was changed to our present name, Christ Episcopal Church Day School.

The school is non-profit and maintains a separate checking and savings account from the regular Christ Church Parish, Kent Island account. The school budget is generated solely from parent tuition, which is paid monthly. The church receives a monthly donation from the school to help offset the utilities for use of the rooms in the educational wing. The educational wing is used by the Sunday school on Sunday mornings and by CECDS on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings and afternoons. The school operates from 9:15 am – 3:15 pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
