Christ Episcopal Church Day School’s (CECDS) Board of Advisors, consisting of seven church members, governs the school. The Board recommends to the Vestry of Christ Church Parish, Kent Island the hiring of the Director, the annual tuition fees, and the annual school budget. The Director has a seat and voice on the Board, but no vote. The Director must hold a college degree and have recent early childhood experience. The Director oversees the hiring of all school staff. Currently we have two full-time teachers, ,one part-time teacher, two full-time assistants and one part-time assistant, a music specialist/assistant and an administrative assistant employed with the school. Teachers sign contracts for employment from August to May, based on enrollment at the school. Requirements for teachers include a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or 120 semester hours of college credit and knowledge of children’s development and growth. Assistants are required to be able to determine cognitive, social, and physical needs of children and be knowledgeable of growth and development of children. When substitutes are needed, they are selected from a pre-approved list.
Amy joins CECDS this year as a Nursery class teacher. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from Wilmington College and a Master's degree in Elementary Math and Reading from Walden University. She has worked for Baltimore City, Anne Arundel County and Queen Anne's County public schoools. When not on the sidelines of a sports field suppporting her 2 children, Amy enjoys sewing, spending time with her husband and going to the beach.
This is Misty's eighth year as an assistant teacher at CECDS following the year before as a substitute. She earned an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education. Her daughters, Savannah and Alyssa Brooke are graduates of CECDS. Misty and her husband enjoy theme parks, the ocean and watching their girls sing and dance.
Martha began at CECDS in 1996 as the first treasurer of the PTO and as a substitute teacher. She quickly became an assistant teacher to Sandi Sparks and then moved on to her own classroom as a lead teacher. She left CECDS in January 2004 when her third son was born. She returned in 2007 as a 3-day Nursery teacher. In the Fall of 2009 Martha became the Administrative Assistant /bookeeper. Martha graduated from Washington College with a Bachelor degree in Economics; and is currently taking courses to pursue her master's degree in elementary education. She owns a seafood business with her husband in Severna Park. All 3 sons graduated from CECDS. She enjoys gardening, reading, going to the beach, teaching Sunday school, spending time with family and cheering her oldest boys at soccer and track meets.
Lisa has been the Director at CECDS since 2000. She served one year as the Interim Director/teacher in the 1999-2000 school year and prior to that was a teacher at CECDS since 1991. She has a Bachelors degree from John Carroll University as well as post graduate studies in special education from Cleveland State University. She has three sons who all graduated from CECDS. Her hobbies include traveling, ice hockey, reading, and fitness.
Sandi has been teaching at CECDS for 21years. She was born and raised in Annapolis, MD and graduated from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County in 1979. Her two children both graduated from CECDS. She enjoys reading, walking on the Cross Island trail, and spending time with her family. She has lived “on this side” of the bridge since 1987 and no longer considers herself to be a chicken necker; however, locals would certainly disagree!
Beth has been a music specialist at CECDS for over 35 years. She accompanies the children on the piano in their music classes as well as for their special programs. Beth studied music at Greenbrier College in Lewisburg, WV and Shenandoah Music Conservatory in Winchester, VA. She has three children and four grandchildren.
Felicia joined CECDS as an assisitant teacher in the 3 day nursery class in 2014. She studied early childhood at Thomas Nelson Community College in Hampton Virginia and interned at Kings Way Montessori School, also in Virginia. Her 2 sons are both graduates of CECDS. While they were students, she served as a room parent for 2 years , co-chaired the scrapbook committee and was an active member of the PTO. Felicia enjoys reading, traveling, scrapbooking, going to the movies and most of all spending time with her family.
Jeni joins the CECDS family this year as the Pre-K teaching assistant. She holds an Associates of Arts degree in computer graphics. Jen served as a CECDS PTO leader for 2 years and is a Sunday school volunteer in her church. She has one son who is a graduate of CECDS. Jeni is looking forward to working with our students, helping prepare them for school, and watching them grow.
Fr. Mark Decluze
Fr. Mark Delcuze came to serve Christ Church Parish in august of 2013. He leads the monthly Family Chapel services, serves ex officio on the CECDS Board, and helps with staff develpment and support. Ordained almost thiry years, he is most proud of his wife, adult daughters, son-in-law and grandson John!
